Choosing a Folding Storage Crate: Open Size and Folded Size

Compare the space it uses in both forms.

Measure what you want to store

Start with the actual items, then measure the shelf, closet or floor space where the crate will sit. Check whether the listed dimensions describe the outside of the crate or its usable interior.

Record the folded footprint

A folding crate still needs storage space when empty. Compare its folded dimensions and the clearance needed to open it. A single capacity number does not explain the shape or the room needed for setup.

Separate options and sets

Lids, doors, handles, wheels and pack quantities can differ by SKU. Confirm the included components and whether a photo shows one crate or a set. Do not compare a two-pack price with a single-unit price without accounting for the quantity.

Check loading and stacking

Use only the stacking arrangements and loads specified for the exact model. Similar dimensions do not establish compatibility between different crates. Follow the maker’s setup and folding instructions and keep moving joints clear during operation.

For product-specific dimensions, materials and instructions, use the exact listing and the manufacturer’s documentation. Contact FoldNest with a question.
